Title

Our podcast title, Beyond the Greenhouse, carries two meanings. It reflects how the Earth’s climate has changed and average temperatures have risen; the planet has essentially become a hot greenhouse that feels burdensome and heavy. In Mongolian, the word for burden or load also means beyond or after, which adds a wordplay to the title. At the same time, the name isn’t about simply accepting these greenhouse-like conditions; it’s about thinking ahead: what comes next, what we should do in the future, and how we can drive change. Because we aim to propose pathways for this transformation based on facts and evidence, and to emphasize the idea of time, we chose the name Beyond the Greenhouse.

The base layer of our podcast logo is a faded, scorched Earth, symbolizing our planet’s current state - like a burning greenhouse. The black square pixels above resemble glitches on a TV or screen, representing the world on the brink of shutting down. Meanwhile, the single green pixel in the top right corner signifies the hope and solutions we aim to highlight through our podcast Beyond the Greenhouse. That sole green dot also marks Mongolia’s location on the world map.

Objectives

The objectives we hope to achieve through the Beyond the Greenhouse podcast are to share information about climate change grounded in scientific research and credible sources; to reduce widespread misconceptions where they exist; to discuss possible future scenarios and projections that depend on our past actions and current choices; and to build a shared understanding of climate change so we can lay the foundation of knowledge needed to create a better future together.

Audience

With the Beyond the Greenhouse podcast, we hope to reach people who are interested in climate change in any form - even if they don’t know much about it yet; people who are naturally curious and love learning; and those who think critically, care about Mongolia, and discuss problems constructively with an eye for solutions. In short, we want people of all ages, genders, professions, political views, and social groups to watch and listen to our podcast.

Structure

Each episode of the podcast has three main parts: research, problem, and solution. The solution section is further divided into three sub-parts: means, opportunity, and motive. In the research section, we provide a brief overview of the topic or sector. From that overview, we identify and highlight the most pressing climate-related issues. In the solution section, we introduce possible means to address these issues, discuss which of these means are feasible, and finally, in the motive part, explain why using these opportunities matters for us.
